Employee Counselling

The Dialogue Consultancy Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) are a professional assessment, referral and counselling service offered to employees with either employment and/or personal difficulties, which may be affecting their work. In addition we can also offer mediation services,   post-incident debrief and a variety of training and group work detailed below.

The Dialogue Consultancy is involved in a number of EAP Programmes.  We currently provide EAPs to Lotus Cars Plc, The West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, Ealing Hospital NHS Trust. Hounslow Primary Care NHS Trust, Ealing Primary Care NHS Trust. Through these programmes we have considerable experience working with doctors, engineers, consultants, nurses, administrators, clinicians, senior management, Board members and managers at all levels of the organizations.

Through our involvement with other EAP providers we also have experience of working with senior staff from Cable and Wireless, Proctor and Gamble, B.T, IBM, Ernst & Young, Bank of Scotland, BUPA and Norwich Union.

What Can We Offer Your Company or Organization?

Many companies and organizations now use EAPs as research demonstrates that supporting the workforce reduces absenteeism. EAPs are generally very well received by employees who feel that their company is concerned about their welfare as an individual. This in turn reinforces commitment to the organisation or company.

The Dialogue Consultancy is interested in the delivery of quality EAPs. We believe our growth as a company has been due to our attention to detail. We are currently available to support over 8000 employees in different organisations. We are especially interested in the creation of tailor-made programmes to suit your needs. We have a network of highly qualified and experienced Consultants who will be able to respond to the needs of your organization. We are totally committed to offering a responsive and high quality service, which will make the care of your employees our first priority.

From the point at which an employee identifies that they have a problem and calls us we can rapidly offer an appointment for a first assessment interview.  At this interview our Consultants will identify the nature of the difficulty and either refer the client onwards or offer up to six counselling sessions. These sessions will be focussed upon providing answers to the difficulties, which the client is experiencing. The client will be encouraged to identify their problem and create goals to bring about a resolution.

What Therapeutic Approach do we Use?

We do not use any single approach but rather draw upon a diversity of contemporary psychological theory and practice which is then applied to the clients and their particular problem. This allows for the creation of a unique package, which is tailored to their needs.  A central aspect of our approach is based upon Gestalt Therapy yet we also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Solution-Focussed Therapy. We believe that our considerable success with clients stems from this multi-disciplinary approach.

Additional Services

In addition to face-to-face Counselling we can offer any or all of the following services:

  • Coaching: Personal and Professional Development
  • Mediation
  • Post-incident debrief
  • Assertiveness/Self-Esteem Workshops
  • Stress Management Workshops
  • Counselling Skills workshops to help develop HR and other departments
  • With client consent we can offer thematic feedback which can help to highlight problems or difficulties within the workplace.

Over the years we have worked with many managers, senior managers and Board members from a variety of industries. Exploring issues such as assertiveness, work/life balance, time management, people management, presentation and the interface between personal history and management style. Based upon our experience we believe we can make a significant difference in how you manage these issues in your working life.

During working life situations of conflict may arise between individuals or within teams. These conflicts can be draining to the individuals or the teams concerned and the harmony and effectiveness of both can be diminished. In these situations Mediation or some form of facilitated exploration can help move these situations forward.

This service will enable situations of conflict to be resolved more quickly and prevent them escalating into Grievance Procedures or formal Complaints.

Post-incident de-brief

Post-Incident De-Brief is available in situations where individuals or a team have been placed under unusual stress, such as violent incidents or where there has been a particularly traumatic issue. Such incidents can provoke strong reactions and need to be dealt with compassionately and quickly.

The Dialogue Consultancy will offer de-briefing within 72 hours where this is practical for staff. Research shows that responsive de-briefing can help contain and support the emotional reactions of staff and therefore prevent subsequent illness.

De-Briefing is not counselling rather it enables the individuals involved to clarify the facts of the incident and to come to terms with the feelings involved.  This may require between one and three meetings depending upon the nature of the incident and the reactions.

Assertiveness Workshops

Learning the skills of assertion can help individuals and teams meet their needs.  A key issue for many people in our culture is the inability to say no and clearly state their needs. Assertiveness workshops can help you to clarify your needs and start to express how you are going to meet them. This can be very useful in the workplace as it can prevent issues of bullying and harassment and enable employees to operate with greater clarity. Key issues in these workshops are:

  • Self esteem
  • Saying “no”
  • Boundaries
  • Assertion vs Anger
  • Self support
  • Environmental Support

Stress Management Workshops

These workshops can be useful in highlighting causes of stress and how to deal with them more effectively.  Participants are encouraged to explore what typically causes them stress and then are taught a variety of exercises to deal more assertively with situations and to learn how to relax more deeply.

Counselling Skills Workshops

These workshops can provide professional development for staff who are dealing with people and who wish to improve their ability to both relate and hold good boundaries. These workshops are run by a very experienced lecturer in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Fees are established on a per employee per annum basis. This works as an insurance policy for the organisation as they know their staff will be supported through a time of crisis or difficulty. Our fees are in the lower to mid quartile for the industry.
